What is this place?
This site is dedicated to all of the old proxy and autonomous Quake projects that have been long forgotten. Lots and lots of valuable information has been left behind for current Quake players (who still play to this day in 2007). For most of the links on this site we salvaged as much information and files from the original websites as possible. Also please be aware that this is not a cheating site. It's nothing more than a links page to saved Quake sites, some that have been long gone but still have valuable information about Quake coding. And the autonomous bots were lots of fun to tinker with. If the files are available to download, please do not attempt to ruin others enjoyment by abusing them. Enjoy!
Active Homepages
Listed below are all of the sites we were able to save. Some of the files were able to be saved and some were not. If anybody has any files that are missing in one of the links below email me. Downloads for the more notorious bots have intentionally been removed. I don't want to be held responsible for people abusing the bots and ruining all of the fun. Check out the links below and enjoy! They bring back fond memories.
Terminator Bot - One of the oldest Quake bots around. Lots and lots of other bots have been based off of the Terminator source. A lot of fun.
QuakeBot C/S - Another old auto bot that has lots of useful information and links to sites about coding. I haven't played with it very much but it was a good run when I got the chance to play it.
Mystery Bot - A really cool bot that was programmed mainly for CTF and automatically recorded demos from the bots POV. I remember playing with this one way back in the day. Unfortunately, I can't get this thing to work because XP won't run it, no matter what I try. I was able to find two old demo's of the bot playing an unknown player. You can download both of the demo files here and here. To view the demo, you need to download the bot pack and use the "-game mystery" command line. Check it out.
Quake 1 client side bot - Not much is known about this one. With a generic name and generic website, nothing is really explained. It was made by some guy named "Mudge" back in late 1997 and the file wasn't available, but a demo was.
tEdbot - Made by an aussie a while back that has never been released. It seemed like a cool little project and some of the demos are still downloadable.
Loefbot - A bot written by James Loe. This bot doesn't really have any options and misbehaves like the StoogeBot. Don't try running this one on a public server because you will get caught.
Richmark's Quakebot - Another mischevious bot like the StoogeBot and Loefbot that has had numerous releases over the years. You can also download the source (once I find it) to check out. This one also has timers and assist mode. An evil bot that has been known to wreak havoc on many servers.
Bottim - The first Quakeworld bot that I've never used. I never played much Quakeworld back in the day so I'm not too sure just how this bot stacks up against the rest of them. I guess just download and try it for yourself.
]]SLUGS[[ ClanBots - Site 2 - Site 3 - Site 4 - This Quake 1 clan had been developing these guys all the way up to 2005(?). Has regular Quake C bots, two different kinds of proxy bots and a debug map. Pretty cool to play with. I must add that the proxy bot has decent navigation, aiming and firing system.
Lair of the QuakeBot - An interesting site that was written a long time ago by Mike Warren. Has some pretty cool info on his project.
Clan Æsir Playmate Project (Under Construction) - One of the oldest and if not first Quake bot around. The clan is long gone but a binary nor source was ever released. Judging from the screenshots of the scoreboard it did pretty good.
MikeBot Project (Under Construction) - Probably one of the more famous bot projects. I remember visiting this page alot a long time ago. A binary was never released, but the source was made public without all of the AI. Check it out.
ItchyBot - The kind little Quake bot. I've never seen a demo, source or anything for this other than screenshots of the bot in action. It's a shame that nothing was ever released because it looked like it would have been fun.
Stanford StoogeBot - The best and most famous out of all client side/proxy bots. Check out this early demo of the bot playing at quake.iglou.com that ran dm6 24/7 with a 0 fraglimit. It's a pretty one-sided fight with the Stooge only dying a handful of times. Gnarly.
ZaphBot - A really cool bot that was released back in '97. It didn't have much for navigation but was able to record demos from the bots point of view. Can't find the files, but the site is still up for you to check out.
Non-Active Homepages
Unfortunately, the links below are the pages that we could not salvage. After extensive hours of searching for old domains and possible files we came up with a big negative. This was a serious disappointment since some of those listed below were projects that interested us the most. If anybody has any information, old files or anything saved from these bots at all, please send them our way.
Llama Bot - One of the better lost bots that seems to have left no traces of itself after it was abandoned. The homepage cannot be found, nor can anything relating to the bot. If anybody has anything from this page, the bot itself or source code please email us.
QuakeSockBot - Another bot from a long time ago that we didn't get to play. The bot was really early in development and we're not sure how far this one made it since the homepage is gone. If anybody has anything on this one, email us.
JavaBot - A bot done in Java. Again, another bot we really didn't get to experience. The fact that it was done purely in Java makes it interesting. Wish we could have gotten the chance to check it out.
Other Infamous Homepages
Below is another section dedicated to other sites that were running wild throughout the late 90's. The files cannot be uploaded because we don't have them, but even if we did we wouldn't upload them since people would probably be tempted to use them to cheat. But, if you do have some of these files listed below send them our way for us to check them out. We promise that we won't use them or release them publically. It would just be for testing purposes. Promise.
Clan WorkerBee's WBMOD - Probably the most famous cheat out there as far as visuals are concerned. This exe had everything from glowing models to whatever you needed to cheat at the game. The clan is long gone and the program is nowhere to be found but if you do have it, email us. Read our promise above. We assure you we won't use it to cheat.
Clan LLAMAFORCE+ - This clan was rampaging through the Quake community in late 1998 and early 1999 and dedicated an entire website to cheating. The page included all kinds of bots and pak hacks and even their own cheats that were only shared among fellow llamas. The clan is long gone but the page was saved.
SuperChicken's Quake Cheats - A frequently visited page by a lot of cheaters. From reading the description, the guy was kicked out of a clan so he uploaded all of the cheats that the clan used. That's funny. One of the first public cheat sites around at the time.
The Glow - An old Quake page that was dedicated to the pak hack. I never got the chance to use it. It looked pretty cool so it's a shame I didn't get to use this little tool. If you have it email me.
