Whats New with ZaphBot ?
March 26th - Right now I'm concentrating on getting the latest version of Cthugha97 out the door, but I intend to update ZaphBot over the next few weeks to get it back to a living being. I'll also release the source-code that enables it to record a demo.
QuakeBot Wars?
If anyone out there is interested in some QuakeBot wars - I'd be glad to join in. My suggestion is to run with a seperate server machine. Play to a certain number of kills, and do enough rounds that each Bot gets to run from each computer (makes the initial starting position stuff fair)
ZaphBot is a Quake Client Bot. This means that it connects to a Quake server, just like a human, and plays within the restrictions of lag-times and controllers (not like QuakeC Bots which can modify their own positions, etc).
The Current version is pretty damn mean, it can really kick butt on a simple level, but it happily walks into lava-pits without thinking, so it doesnt stand much of a chance against a cunning player. But that will change!!! Soon the AI will be at a point where it will put up a reasonable fight on the flat, and then all it needs is to understand what a wall is!
