Last season was our busiest ever, with a sudden rush of new bookings as the season was drawing to a close, fortunately the Indian summer was kind to the broodmares with the longer than expected fine weather. We will close our books off Feb 28th this season with no mares or semen orders accepted after that date due to our HOY commitments.
G. Spring Fever has been flying the flag for our stud. He qualified for HOY Showhunter Title Class Category C over 2 shows in a 7 day period. At HOY he pulled out a stunning round to be second behind Wilful in the Title Class, in the call-back round he took a rail which dropped him to 9th overall. This was his first big Showhunter event and his jumping rounds were way in excess of what we expected so we were very proud of him. An even bigger thrill was the presentation and victory lap in the main arena, the sight of approximately 40 horses cantering round the showjumping arena together was one to behold. To cap the show off he won Champion Pinto Pony.
He had a constant stream of admirers all week at HOY, all commenting on how well behaved he was, a well known trait that his sire, Pourewa, leaves on all his youngstock. Spring Fever is officially 6 years old this month and has a very exciting future ahead of him. At the end of last season his rider did her C+ certificate on him at Pony Club. He will start his Showjumping career this season as well as continuing with Showhunter.
His competition performances attracted some quality, well performed mares from all around the country and we were lucky to be offered 2 nice mares to breed from, Cat A Pony Showhunter winner HOY 2007 and the other a Grand Prix SJ pony who�s dam was also a GP Showjumping pony.
Arising from a casual conversation one day we managed to track down and purchase the dam of our latest rising star, Galaxy Masterpiece (Pourewa x Ruby) with the view to breeding a full sibling in the coming season.
Most of Spring Fever�s mares were by AI. Having been expertly taught by Lee Morris and her team at Equibreed how to collect on the phantom; set us on the road to a 100% fertility rate even with some older maiden mares.
Pourewa was kept busy as well covering all his mares by natural service from 13hh to 16.2hh. We are now very excited as we await the new arrivals of both stallions

Kaitaia Northland NZ
Kary Robertson and her husband Mark, and 9 year old son Troy live on their own farm about 10 minutes drive out of kaitaia on the East Coast of Northland. The property is described as a little slice of Cambridge in the Far Nort and comprises 50 acres of mostly flat grass land which is all set up for horse with an all weather dressage arena, a rodeo arena, a jumping paddock, washbay, stables and tack room. Kary currently runs the Windarra Riding School from their home and teaches up to 30 students at any one time. She also runs ribbon day, stock horse days and games days from their property where anything from 10 to 30 riders could be competing.
She currently have 4 pintos as follows:
Windarra Cocheze, her very very laid back stallion, Windarra Inky, currently in foal to Millinium Gold (Paint Horse), Windarra Patches a rising 3 year old filly, and Windarra Ranger a gelding aged 4 years. Kary also sold a pinto to her mother Ona WELLS from Cambridge which she has shown successfully with Kary�s sister Dna. His name is Bitofadude who was recently the Waikato A&P Reserve Champion Adult Pinto and Champion Ridden Pinto.
Both Cocheze and Ranger are awesome ponies, go any where do anything types. They have done many miles treking, stockwork, pighunting etc. Cocheze has done the first 2 legs of the Great NZ trek from Cape Reinga to Potuo Point. Since Kary has owned Cocheze she has used him in the riding school with everyone from first timers through to experienced riders using him even Troy her son who is disabled and requires a specialy built saddle to ride. Cocheze adapted to this no problems and was a very safe mount. He has treked in amongst mares in season etc with no problems and is a pleasure to own and be around.
Likewise Inky has been used extensively in my riding school. She was my main riding school pony until Kary got her in foal last October. She has had an easy year this year but like Cocheze she is a real easy horse. She has treked, done the pony club thing winning a heap of ribbons, been used in the riding school for all levels of riders.
Patches is rising 3, very spirited and athletic. She was broken in young and has done a fair amount of treking, pighunting and farm/stock work. She has striking markings/colour. I have shown her in hand as a yearling at the A&P shows up here, she got reserve champion at her first show. I know if I had more time she would do well she is so attractive.
My husband and I compete on the NZRCA rodeo circuit each year so our time to show other horse is very limited and hence I haven't taken this crew out as much as I would have liked but we get them to the shows when we can.
