Secretary's Spiel

Hi all
Firstly I have to say a very very big sorry to you all about the delay in the newsletter this season. Ive now handed it on to our Canterbury delegate Cherie Jackson who was willing to take the job on. Ive been so flat out I just havent had the spare time to finish it off so handed it over to someone who had a bit of spare time to do it for you all. I have also had it accepted at the recent meeting that the newsletters go to monthly publications so not so big for one and easier to edit for another since we have so much to put in them now days.

Condolences definitely go out to Rhiannon Horridge for the loss of her special mare White Dove. Her foal is absolutely lovely and I we will get to see her at the pinto shows in the new year.
Well lots has gone on already this season for myself and my family, we have decided we are going to sell mums flat and our farm and find something bigger in the area we can all live at, so I can go full time with the stallions and stud side instead of working 2 part time jobs to feed everything here which I had to do during the drought and floods up here this year. We have had a heck of a year and Ive been spending over $600 a week on hay and feed and I definitely dont want to deal with that again in a hurry.
My own studs show season is on pause at the moment with Splashback doing his annual end of winter growth spurt putting him in the forget about back paddock for awhile til he got over that. Hes starting to come even now in heights from front end to back end so we will be reminding him about the saddle and being on top instead of beside him shortly all going well. We hope to have him under saddle by the Nationals but I wont talk too soon especially with him. Jst N Illusion sadly lost twins which where unfortunately undetected by the vets during the scans, so she will be put in foal again shortly and then get back to the shows for the 2nd half of the season. We have been to the local shows and catching up with everyone and its been great to see so many new pintos out there. We hope to join you shortly anyway.
Well done to all the winners so far for the start of the season with 2 A&P shows and 1 sports day show held in Hawkes Bay , 1 in Christchurch 1 in Waikato and 1 in south Auckland.
A huge Congratulations to Jill Reid and Gerald Birdsall who own and present Touche and Joanne Train owner of Arjohn of Silvertrees on both your successes in the sporthorse ring at the Hawkes Bay show. Arjohn took out the youngstock section and Touche took out the Adult and Supreme Sporthorse section. They where the only two pintos in the section and came out on top which is definitely great to hear. Also to Julie Smith who competed a pinto in the partbred arabian classes at the Canterbury Royal show and placing Reserve Champion Partbred Youngstock.
Well done to all the winners down in Christchurch at the Royal Show, nice to see some new members doing well at their first show.
Both Nationals have been confirmed and schedules will be out shortly for both. Please keep an eye on the website or contact us if you would like on posted out.
HOY organising is under way. We have had to move our prime location on the grounds unfortunately due to the trade stands taking up our usual position on the grounds. The pinto ring will now be held over by the main entry on the Southern side of the grounds in the miniature horse area with 19th March looking at 11am start on the Thursday being the ridden events and 20th of March looking at a later start again on the Friday the inhand events. We have split the section into 2 days due to the large number of classes making it easier for those that do both as well as not so longer day for the judge and stewards. Please note this show is open to registered horses and financial members only and you only have to qualify for certain events to enter so when the schedule is out please take note on the conditions, the rest you can enter as usual.
Thats me for another month, sorry once again for the delay and thank you Cherie for taking on the job

Regards and happy colouring
