I
belong to this group. CTD is the acronym for Conductivity, Temperature, and
Depth, parameters by which oceanographers identify a water mass in the ocean.
We
had to to collect seawater samples down the water column from the surface
up to 7700m deep in the ocean. For this task, we used a CTD fish, the carousel
sampling system, the 36 niskin -- ordinary and lever action-type -- samplers
(12 liter capacity), and the pinger which acoustically determines the bottom
of the sea. The pictures on the side show us in different preparatory phases.
