Technical and Historical Notes
|
The XXXG-01FB Gundam Frostblade was built at the colony cluster at Lagrange Point 7 by Guru M. Guru M had been one of the scientist working on the Wing Gundam ZER0 project along with Doctor J, Professor G, Instructor H, Doktor S and Master O. When that project was deemed too dangerous to complete each scientist took a copy of the plans and left to build their own Gundam. Guru M found refuge at L7 as a mobile suit designer for Justinian Dark, Magus' father. Here Guru M constructed the XXXG-01FB Gundam Frostblade in secret and when orders for Operation Meteor came Magus Dark was selected to be the Gundam's pilot. Armed with a high output beam axe, gundanium shield and twin fire-linked machine cannons the Gundam was designed for close quarters combat and excelled in it but lacked the ability to maintain long battles due to its lack of long range weaponry.
When the XXXG-01FB Gundam Frostblade was destroyed by Romefeller's forces in AC 196, the extremely durable gundanium-made remains of that mobile suit were taken in to Guru M's ship Vengence for storage. While the pilot, Magus Dark, of the suit rested in a coma after the battle in which he had sacrificed his suit to stop Romefeller, Guru M also began rebuilding the Frostblade more along the design plans of the Wing ZER0, preparing for the day when Gundam pilot Magus Dark awoke from his coma and could return to the battlefield. That opportunity came right before the Romefeller Foundation - the political force behind aggressive acts on Earth - increased its mobile suit force for a final attack, and Magus awoke from his weeks long coma. Thinking he had been captured Magus Dark escaped in the XXXG-01FB2 Gundam Frostblade Odin to find that most on Earth believe he had died from the Twin Buster Rifle blast his original Gundam Frostblade had taken full on. At that time, the Frostblade Odin was only eighty percent complete; later repairs and field upgrades would allow Magus to complete the resurrected mobile suit, bringing it up to its full combat potential.
The new Frostblade Odin was a considerable improvement over its original form, with a more powerful double headed beam axe, increased speed and mobility, a "shielding wing" system which served as both an external layer of beam-deflecting armor and thruster jets when spread out in their wing form, and a high energy output double barreled particle beam cannon. The cannon could then be split into two seperate particle beam rifles that could be fired seperately or in unison dependent on the need at hand. These improvements allowed Magus to continue his fight against both the militaristic Romefeller Foundation and the terrorist factions of the "Perfect Purification Police" on Earth, putting the Gundam Frostblade Odin on an almost equal footing with Romefeller's newest AI-controlled mobile dolls.
When the XXXG-01FB2 Gundam Frostblade Odin was destroyed due to the use of the dummy plug system installed in it, the gundanium shell was nearly destroyed. All that remained of the once proud Gundam was its inner frame and most of its cockpit. Magus had the crew overhaul the Gundam and personally oversaw its reconstruction. The moveable frame was mostly intact but the transformation system was destroyed and had to be scraped. The Gundam was redesigned and given a much sleeker look and used well placed gundanium plates instead of the bulky design of the original. The "shielding wing" system was overhauled and became more angelic in design. The particle beam cannon was removed and replaced with a high energy output E-Project rail gun. The rail gun, while significantly less powerful then the one originally designed, still required the use of super-microwave beam transmissions to fire at full effect. This was taken into account and the wings were given an energy storage battery system to contain the energy until the rail gun was aimed.
