photo
album. as some
of you know, i love taking pictures and have so many to share!!
here are pictures from some of my adventures...
jes'
tahoe accident. a
very scary thing happened. on out first day back on the
slopes, jes fell while snowboarding. he tried
to shake it off, finished the run, and completed another. back
at the lodge, he checked
himself into the kirkwood clinic, passed out, and was transported to
barton memorial. he ended up having abdominal surgery, stayed in the
ICU for 3
days, transferred to kaiser in sacramento, and he's now back his old
self with a new scar down his tummy. whew! that was
close. sandy's
bday. it was that time again! sandy's bday is always
a good time to get the ucla gang together again. i suppose
it's because it always falls within the thanksgiving weekend. this year we
went to downtown disney. everyone made it except andy, who was
in taiwan at the time. dinner was at the house of blues
since the espn zone restaurant had a 2-hour wait! we also
waited
at 9:30 for the disneyland fireworks but they never started.
the rest of the evening was spent playing games at the espn
zone. patti
& howard's wedding. patti's bridal shower and
bachelorette party were both held in sf. the wedding took place in pasadena on
09.01.01. the ceremony was short and sweet. the
hors d'oeuvres and drinks were yummy. the dinner was even
better! they danced their first dance to sade's "by your
side". howard made a very worthy effort at making a
speech in korean. of course, i cried! hanie was the maid of
honor while hols, timmie, and jane were bridesmaids. patti
looked beautiful and howard couldn't stop smiling...as usual.
patti's the first out of my friends from whitney so this was a
really momentous occasion. the
proposal. i'm getting married!! jes decided to
give me a really big surprise the afternoon of my graduation.
this was a total shock to me and everyone seemed to be in on it that
afternoon. since he proposed to me in front of the whole
family and my friends, i have lots of photos to remember the moment
by. this was a very special day for my family and of course, for
me...a day
that i will never forget! cherry
pickin'. i have fond childhood memories of picking
cherries with my family and wanted to relive it along with
introducing it to jes for the first time. so holly, jes, and i
went to a cherry orchard in northern california for a day of fun and
frolic! we ended up picking about 25 lbs. and got them all,
courtesy of a friend who owns the orchard, for free! my
first trip to the east coast. i took a trip to the aota
conference with the totoros. the conference was in
philadelphia so i got a chance to see the east coast for the first
time. we attended the conference on friday. we saw the
sites of philadelphia, pa on saturday and drove through 5 states to
visit dayantha in dc. on sunday, we toured the monuments and
said "hello" to president bush along the way. marie and kenji's wedding.
when we were kids, we used to play "restaurant" in her backyard
making mudpies and serving them to imaginary customers. now
marie, my cousin, is married. we're only 3 months apart in age
so this is a true milestone. the ranch was beautiful and gave
the ceremony and reception a really cozy, romantic touch. the
decorations, flowers, and cake were very "martha stewart"...just
the way marie likes it. kenji's also a great guy and i'm so
happy for her. may they have years and years of happiness
together!! a
month in hawaii. yup, i spent an entire month in hawaii.
dahlia grew up in hawaii and wanted to visit her grandmother there
so we decided to get our Level I assignment in hawaii
together. since we would need to be there for at least 2
weeks, we decided to make it a month. so, i lived in hawaii as
a true kama'aina (local). once i completed my fieldwork, jes
flew in to share the last week on the island with
me. welcoming
2000 in vegas. the big question of 1999 was, "where
are you going to be at the millennium?" we didn't have
anything planned in particular so we went to vegas. the five
of us (me, holly, victor, jes, and huy) crammed into jes' acura and
we spent the weekend at the venetian and counted the last seconds
down on the strip.
family
graduations. here are some photos of the various
graduations in my family. the latest is my graduation from samuel
merrit ot schoo. i was the first of the many cousins
in my family to graduate from college with 2 more bruins after
me. johnny still has one more year to go at csulb and amy will
be a freshman at u. of north carolina, chapel hill.
my
ucla experience. it was a great time in my life.
it was my
first taste of freedom, i made new friends, spent late nights
playing games and talking, and of course i got a
higher education. besides all that book learning, i learned
how to manage my money and my time. most of all, i learned a
lot about my strengths and limitations as a person and am now a more
well-rounded, well-adjusted adult ready to take on the world!
