friends. Meet
my friends! They're all unique and special in their own
ways... The
PITAs... jes...my
bestest friend in the whole wide world! i love him for his
honesty and believing in me. he's always been there to keep me
true to myself. he's also a really intelligent guy who can
read faster than anyone else i know. i admire his ability to
do things 110%. if i could workout with the same steadfast
nature he has sometimes, i'd be a marathon runner by now. my favorite things to do with him: reading at
Borders, spending all day at home in our pajamas, and grocery
shopping. holly...my
bestfriend since high school. i love her for her
free and curious spirit. she's always ready to try new things
and explore new places. we've been friends since 9th grade and
shared a lot of good laughs and adventures. i have fond
memories of passing notes to each other between classes, going to
taco bell afterschool in her toyota van, and most recently going
cherry picking. dayantha...my
healthcare buddy. i can always rely on a "whassup?"
across the table while others are talking business. but
really, i love
dayantha for his patience and kindness. no one else would
"enjoy" shuttling my friends and i around washington dc
all day!! he'll make a great doctor. huy...my
"brother". we've been good friends forever and i've
spent so much time at his house that i feel like one of the
trans. i love huy for his dry sense of humor. his
delivery is extraordinary.
he's also fun person to take cerritos college classes with. i
have fond memories of burning magnesium with him one summer. i
think that his sense of humor will keep him sane as a medical
intern. i think he should go into mental health. victor...my
golfing buddy. we used to play a round of golf together every
friday. we even played in a storm - soaking wet with golf club
in hand, we finished all 18 holes. i love him for his laid-back
style. the only
time i really see him in a higher emotional state is when he's
working as the sixth man on the LAKERS. he's also a great
motivator and can make friends with anyone. he's the
ultimate spam-lover. jimmy...my
helpdesk. he's always there to help me with the pita
site. i've known this guy since 9th grade. i remember we
had p.e. and spanish together. i love him for his ability to
smoothly humor people that he doesn't know (or particularly
likes)...a funny guy. he also has the tendency to make
nicknames for everyone he's friends with. check out his
site: jimagu.com. yoon...my
favorite yoon. although i haven't known her as long as
everyone else, i feel like i've known her forever. i love her
for her considerate nature. she's always the perfect host and
tries to make sure that everyone is comfortable and getting
along. she's also someone that will always be ready to go out
onto the dance floor to have a good time. what
is PITA anyways?? well, it started during a road trip to Las
Vegas. five of us (Jes, Me, Hols, Victor, and Huy) were
crammed into a car and we had a conversation about who was the
biggest "pain in the ass". hence, the acronym
PITA. there is still controversy over who really is the
biggest PITA but I think that we all are depending of the
situation. For the latest on PITA go to: www.geocities.com/pita808 My
Bruin Buddies... linda...my
first friend at ucla. we were roommates at orientation and
have been friends ever since!! i love her for her sense of
humor and her love of music. one of my fondest memories of her
is walking to class together as she sings the "song of the
day" over and over again. going to no-re-bang with her is
always a blast! sandy...my
friend across the hall. she lived across the hall from jes our
freshman year. we've spent numerous late nights hanging out in the
hall playing "big 2" or fighting over the skittles in
class. we also
took o-chem together and survived!!! i love her for her
kindness and love for all people. she inspires me to be a
better person. mary...my
"queen". i love her for her strong spirit and
knowing what she likes and dislikes. she tells it like it is
and keeps things real. i have fond memories of watching
ucla basketball games with her and cheering for tyus edney. we
often worked in toontown together and she'd give me extra ice cream
backstage!! eric...my
bangerang. i love him for his ability to always gross me
out. he also enjoys "educating" me on things that i
sometimes don't want to hear about. he's also the guy that was
always doing volleyball dives at every possible opportunity.
this guy is also a good person to talk to for hours and values most
of the "beakatude commentaries" that i make about life and
love. life at
UCLA was a blast. i sometimes wish I could relive some of
those carefree days. The
Totoros...
dahlia...my
first friend in the OT program. "did you eat
yet?" she shared my love of good food and has fed me for the last 2 years. she makes the best spam musubi!!
i love her for her caring nature and aloha spirit. she has
always treated me like a younger sister and has unofficially taught
me the 'kama'aina' way. heather...my oregonian friend. i
love her fun-loving nature. she always keeps me entertained and laughing.
she's always ready for a good time, always has a story to tell, and
has the tiniest fingers. we both seem to
be accident prone and one of us always manages to spill coffee on
the floor or on ourselves.
bridget...my
"vibe" sister. i love her for her "glittery"
style and personality - she
is the queen of pink and sparkle and has every shade of nail polish!
we were suite-mates and the dynamic OT-PT duo who shared "the
vibe", which gave us the power to study with minimal stress, no
late nites, lots of time to play, and decent grades too! i
have fond memories of studying at the local coffee shop (corner
table by the window), laughing at the pets.com commercials, and the
smell of microwave popcorn and coffee coming from her
room. hmm...what is a
totoro??
well, you'll have to find out for yourself...it's too hard to
explain. all I can tell you is that these totoros are special
to me. they have gotten me through some of the toughest days
and weeks. OT school wouldn't have been as memorable without
these chums by my side. who else would i feel comfortable
practicing transfers and dyphagia evals on? we've also taken
several adventures together and will always have those to remember.
