Rules

There are two kinds of rules... those that make sense will be followed usually without much debate by everyone -- like stopping at stop signs... only real moron's will violate those kind of rules. It is important for everyone to follow those kind of rules regardless of how bad they feel they need to get through the intersection in a hurry.

Then, there is the other kind of rule -- which is designed to benefit the rulers. people usually will not follow them -- because they don't make sense -- which gives the rulers an excuse to persecute just about anyone they have a notion to.  This is not the humor section but here are some funny laws passed in the State of Indiana.  They illustrate this point quite well:

  • It is illegal for a man to be sexually aroused in public.
  • The value of Pi is 4, and not 3.1415. (Repealed)
  • Hotel sheets must be exactly 99 inches long and 81 inches wide
  • "Spiteful Gossip" and "talking behind a person's back" are illegal
  • You are not allowed to carry a cocktail from the bar to a table. The waiter or waitress has to do it
  • Pedestrians crossing the highway at night are prohibited from wearing tail lights
  • Liquor stores may not sell milk
  • Oral sex is illegal
  • Baths may not be taken between the months of October and March

If you steal anything from here I will hunt you down and eat you!

Any law that takes hold of a man's daily life cannot prevail in a community, unless the vast majority of the community are actively in favor of it. The laws that are the most operative are the laws which protect life.
