Basic Knit Diagonal Dish Cloth

This cloth is really basic, and is great for learning how to knit. It teaches you how to cast on, increase using yarn over, decrease by knitting two stitches together, and casting off. The only thing easier would be to have a straight garter stitch {knit every row} dish cloth. I like this one since the yarn overs create an eyelet effect, and more importantly, if my guage is off, it won't show as much since I'm increasing or decreasing stitches on every row! To make this pattern even easier for the beginners, I will put all usual abbreviations into brackets like so: knit 2 stitches together {k2tog}.

What Do I Need?
Start off with a ball of worsted weight cotton yarn and a pair of size 10/6.00 mm knitting needles!

Cast on 4 stitches {sts}.
Row 1: Knit {k} across.
Row 2: Knit {k} 2, yarn over {yo}, knit {k} to end of row.
Repeat {rep} row 2 until there are 43 stitches {sts} on needle.
Next Row: Knit {k} 1, knit 2 stitches together {k2tog}, yarn over {yo}, knit 2 stitches together {k2tog}, knit {k} to end of row.
Repeat {rep} last row until only 4 stitches {sts} remain.
Cast off remaining stitches {sts}.

...and a new dish cloth is born!
