How to Tell She Likes You

I often run into guys who are very cautious and dreadful of coming off the wrong way or announcing that they like a girl before she says it. Unfortunately, women don�t really like to announce their feelings in the beginning trials of a relationship either.

This is usually not a problem if the female doesn�t like the guy. However, if she does all hell may break loose when the guy doesn�t get the hint. Then, often women have the �what! you mean you CAN�T read my mind?!!� response the first time the guy starts pursuing another woman or asks for advice on dating another woman.

Not being straightforward has benefits and consequences for either missing the opportunity to be more than just friends or avoiding being in an awkward situation with someone who only wants to be friends.

I wrote an article on avoiding the �friend zone� -- being forever cast as a friend even though you don�t want to be �just friends�. But this column will point out how you can tell if a woman is digging you. Of course, these are just the unscientific facts.

Follow the Signs

• She's territorial about you. To test this, flirt with another woman. I know this may seem out of place but this really helps to see how she reacts to possibly losing your interest to another woman. Do not do this on your first date or she�ll think you�re a pig and you won�t get a second date.

  If she is blatantly defensive or if she laughs but still makes it clear to the other woman to recognize that you are together, then you�re in. If she comments to the other woman to �Please take him... NOW! He needs a date.� then you probably aren�t going anywhere.

• She gives you positive body language. Body language can say way more than words. Watch for her to lean into you, touch you when it�s not necessary, initiate hand holding, or blush just by looking at you.
• She allows you in her personal space. Perhaps even more important than how she reacts to you is how close she allows you to be. It's easy for someone who's just a flirt to give positive body language from across the room but consistently allowing you into her space is the true test.
• She makes it a point to look deep into your eyes. Though for shy girls this may be more difficult to read, generally women know that you avoid eye contact with a guy you don�t like.
• She carves out time in her busy schedule to talk to you or hang out. If a woman consistently makes time for you when she has always had a routine otherwise this is a positive sign that she considers you a worthy addition to her life. If she has even started prioritizing you over other things, that�s even better.
• She does things for you that she doesn�t for others. When she plans something especially for you or breaks with tradition for you, that�s certainly a way to gauge how important your existence is.
• She makes a point to be where you are. If she just happens to be in your neighborhood or at the bar she only recently found out that you frequent, she is probably hoping to bump into you on accidental purpose. This can also be a first sign of psycho-crazy, stalker bitch when you break up so be careful.
• She remembers the anniversaries. When she starts asking you if you remember when you first met and what was special about it for you, she�s preparing for the future anniversaries. If she plans something for your one to three month of hanging out, you know this one is in for the long(er) haul.
• She picks off the imaginary lint from your clothes when you don�t introduce her when you bump into an old friend (male or female). This is a woman's secret way of letting you know she's feeling ignored or needs more attention. This is also good for drawing attention to the fact that you and her are together.

These are general rules that can be applied to the average woman. Now, we know that there is the evil bitch out there who just wants to win and lives to have guys wrapped around her finger. She may display the above behavior but is only using it as a small part in her arsenal of playerette schemes.
