English, Hindi important : F Malsawma
Aizawl Oct 11 : Health minister F Malsawma said English and Hindi are very important for the people of Mizoram and these two languages must be emphasised.
Speaking at the release function of the Mizoram Board of School Education's Journal, the Health minister said "English being an international language, it must be given emphasis so that people from Mizoram will not be considered backward for their lack of knowledge of the English language. On the other hand, Hindi cannot be neglected as it is the national language and is needed for everyday usage outside the state. So we need to give equal importance to these two major languages."
Indirectly advocating the stance of the government towards its implementation of unpopular moves, F Malsawma said a leader should lead as he sees fit and not as others tell him to.
"Opinions of how things should be done are seen everyday in the newspapers. However, a leader has to focus his attention on the task that he has set for himself and not be swayed by opinions from the public. A leader should lead and not be led."
At the release of the first issue of the MBSE Journal, the MBSE president Budhi Raja said of all the education boards in the state, the Mizoram board, which was established in 1976, is the last to publish a journal.
The editor of the journal, R Vanramchhuanga, giving a technical report said the Journal had been pbulsihed in the interest of the students and schools as well as to establish a closer bond between schools and the Board.
The quarterly MBSE Journal released today is the first issue of the first volume, datelined July - September 2002.
