National Postal Week to be concluded today
The National Postal Week will be concluded today after its inauguration on October 7. During the week, the World Post Day was observed in commemoration of the raising day of the Universal Postal Union which came into being on October 9, 1874. 190 countries are affiliated to the Union.
Craft Bazaar in Dec
A Craft Bazaar is to be jointly organised by the CAPART and Hnam Chhantu at the Government High School field at MacDonald Hill, Zarkawt during December 2002 where crafts and other items manufactured by the Hnam Chhantu organisation will be on sale.
Talking Bible on sale
The Talking Bible is currently on sale at Rs 650 at the Synod Publicity & Electronic Media Office at Mission Veng. Those who have pledged to buy the Bible can collect it at the office during office hours with the payment of Rs 650. An audio cassette of the New Testament in Mizo is also available at Rs 350.
Hypnotized into committing suicide
A prisoner at the Central jail, who committed suicide Thursday night, left a message which said he had been placed under a spell by a magician in Myanmar. The message also said this magician had been the cause of 17 deaths. The prisoner, Suikunga, was buried yesterday at the Bungkawn cemetary after a post mortem was carried out. He had said his body was not to be taken to Myanmar.
Transport minister to tour constituency
Transport minister K Sangthuama is scheduled to visit his constituency Kawrthah from Monday. He will visit several villages and return at the end of the week.
P & E tech staff threaten stir
The P & E department's technical staff have threatened to avail mass C/L and to go on an indefinite strike in November if recruitment rules and vacant posts a are not looked into during October.
