AR Friendship Tourney gets off
The Assam Rifles Friendship Football Tournament was inaugurated today by the second-in-command of the Mizoram Assam Rifles Maj N.K. Joshi at the AR Parade ground Thursday. Three matches were played Thursday in which Ramhlun Sporting Club got the upper hand from Vaivakawn SC by 4-0, Mizoram Police Soccer Club defeated Venghnuai Games Association by 4-1 and FC Kulikawn defeated the 1st AR by 3-1.
MzU awards first PhD
The Mizoram University have awarded its first ever PhD degree to K Laldailova, lecturer, Pachhunga University College Tuesday last. His thesis is "Pattern of Land Ownership, Land Use and Sustainable Development in Mizoram." He was guided by Prof Tlanglawma of MzU.
Escaped felon caught
The Mizoram police have caught one Ninlunsing, 36, aka Luni, Tuesday night after she escaped from police custody while being brought to court Tuesday. Suspecting her to be in the house of one Chungliana of Ramhlun North, the police searched the place despite the owner's denial that no one else had come to the house. Luni had been arrested for possessing heroin.
Governor still in southern parts
The Mizoram governor AR Kohli, who is touring southern Mizoram is still in the south. After touring and inspecting Lawngtlai and its surroundings, the governor entered Saiha last evening. He will meet representatives of NGOs and political parties as he did in Lawngtlai.
Dr Thangtea meets Australian minister
Mizoram Edn minister Dr Thangtea, who is currently in Australia has met with Australian education minister Jane Lomax Smith with whom he discussed various issues concerning education in Mizoram. Dr Thangtea left Australia yesterday for Singapore.
