The Halloween Pennant is easily recognized by the large amount of yellow or orange and brown in the wings. The adult male has a red face, stigmas and markings on the top of the abdomen. In females and young males, these areas are yellow.

Habitat: ponds, lakes and marshes

Great Plains Range: TX, OK, KS, NE, NM, CO, MO, IA, MN

Flight season: June to September
