Social Security Office can not arrest you if its computer says that your Social Security Number is no good to work legally in USA. It can possibly only report you to INS under present Anti Terrorism laws. The INS knows better and would not come after you if you are legally in USA or have US Citizenship. INS would ignore the alarm raised by Social Security Administration but you would have a proof from Social Security Administration in writing that it has been telling the employers that you are illegal, while actually you are not. Its all okay but that every non US legal Resident should report to INS but please also check your legal status with the Social Security Administration.

It has been discovered that a lot of legal immigrants and citizens of USA remain un-qualified to work in USA because the incompetent staff of Social Security Administration has failed to correct their Legal Status in its computer. A Class Action Law Suit is being filed on behalf of all such people of all nationalities, who are legal in USA but when they apply for a job and the employer calls Social Security Administration to confirm their legal status the prospective Employer is told that its illegal to offer them a job in USA. None of these people know, this is why they are being refused jobs by prospective employers for decades since no prospective Employer is telling them that their Job Application or Resume is being rejected because of Non-clearance from Social Security Administration. 

All legal US Immigrants should go to their local Social Security Office and ask if they are legally allowed to work in USA? They can also go to any Employer that would do this for them. They should tell them the following option if such an employer does not know.  

Verification Options  

To verify up to 5 names/SSNs - Just call our toll-free number for employers - 1-800-772-6270 - weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. EST. You will be asked for your company name and EIN. Then you will be asked to provide the following information for each name/SSN you want to verify.  

  1.. SSN,

  2.. last name,

  3.. first name,

  4.. middle initial (if applicable),

  5.. date of birth, and

  6.. gender
