After what has been an extremely tiring time at work, Steve and I decided to take a break from reality and travel to Guatemala.
Once there, we became green-bellied avocado eaters while I practiced my Spanglish. It amazed me how a seven hour flight was able to take us to volcanos, stunning lakes and Mayan
ruins surrounded by tucans and monkeys. While one week was certainly short, we got a thorough view of this small intriguing country. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone
looking for a scenic vacation.

After climbing a volcano and lounging on the lake, we decided it was time
to go see some ruins. So North we flew to the great Mayan city of Tikal. Above is the fresh
water crocodile-laden pond at the entrance.

We bought a package deal which forced us to go on a guided tour our first day. We found
that one of our tourmates had chosen to take it upon herself to show the Guatemalans what she
thought of the food in her home country.
