After what has been an extremely tiring time at work, Steve and I decided to take a break from reality and travel to Guatemala.
Once there, we became green-bellied avocado eaters while I practiced my Spanglish. It amazed me how a seven hour flight was able to take us to volcanos, stunning lakes and Mayan
ruins surrounded by tucans and monkeys. While one week was certainly short, we got a thorough view of this small intriguing country. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone
looking for a scenic vacation.

Above is the view from our hotel room overlooking Lake Atitlan. We were in the small
town of Panajatel (called "Pana" by the locals). Who knew that volcanic lake could bring
such sweet solitude.

We decided to take a jaunt across the lake to the next largest town - Santiago.
Here we got a better sampling of local life on the lake.
