The saiyans are like humans, but come from the planet Vegeta. They were virtually wiped out by Freeza (when he saw them as a threat). The only survivors were Goku, Vegeta, Nappa, and Radditz. They're like humans except they have monkey tails. When exposed to the light of the full moon, they turn into large mostrous monkeys. Goku had his tail surgically removed, and Gohan's and Vegeta's were merely pulled out.
There was also a legend of a Super Saiyan. A person with unimaginable power, a person who would rise only every 1000 years. The first Saiyan to accomplish this was only able to control himself in Oozaru form (monkey) but destroyed himself in anger. Only those with some Saiyan blood can become SSJ. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Pan were able to achieve this level of power and harness it. |

There are different levels of SSJ, SSJ one was achieved first by Goku against Freeza after he destroyed Krillin. The saiyan's hair changes gold (not blonde) and their eyes turn green.
SSJ2 was achieved first by Gohan against Cell. The hair is a little longer.
SSJ3 was achieved by Goku. There hair gets VERY long and their eyebrows get thinner.
SSJ4 changed the saiyan by growing small redish/brown fur and their hair becomes longer, but stays black. Their eyes become black as well.
The only two with the ability to reach SSJ4 are Vegeta and Goku. (of course Goku!) |
