THRUST SYSTEM OF A HOVER CRAFT Thrust system of a hover craft is located at the rear end. This system plays a major role in propelling a hover craft & is also a major principle part of a hover craft. It always rotate in a vertical plane & in a horizontal axis position. It draws or sucks air inwardly at inner face and it gives thrust at the outer face due it which whole vehicle propels in opposite direction. The maximum speed of hover craft depends on engine capacity, propeller, casing around the propeller. Our hover craft consists :- The thrust system was rather simple which utilized a 30” MULTIWING axial fan with four blades developing approximately 3000 CFM of air at 2500 rpm. The power source for the thrust fan is a 150 cc scooter engine (Mfd. By Bajaj chetak) generating 7.35hp . The transmission was through a flexible coupling connecting directly both engine shaft and propeller shaft. This was the initial adjustment, but from this arrangement, alignment of shafts became very difficult due to height difference. In order to over come this we have decided to couple the propeller directly to the engine. In order to develop greater thrust we have decided to provide a casing around the propeller, for this we have chosen very light steel pipes. Presently our hover craft is propelling around 40 km/hr speed at full throttling condition. But this speed can increase to higher by adopting higher power engine.
