DIVERSE

Diversity has become an achievement for modern Greek organizations. Diverse membership reflects the "salad bowl" of American society. However, "diverse" is a broad term that is often miscontrued.

If a sorority chapter is 99% white and 1% black, members may claim diversity. Levels of diversity exist which make pinning down a good definition of "diverse" very difficult. How do we identify an organization that is predominantly white, but has chapters in which numerous cultures are represented? That is the difficult question. Understanding how terms are used within the Greek realm may help to clarify any confusion.
