Evaluation-
Below is a copy of the rubric that will be used to grade the Webbie Award Webquest.  The essential skill that I want students to learn is to evaluate websites based on three criteria:  authority, content, and design.  These three criteria are clearly spelled out on the forms that students will use to evaluate their websites.  There are certainly other criteria that can be used to judge a website, but these three are the ones I feel are most essential in a school setting.


Your group's grade will be based on the following:

 Completes website evaluation forms for assigned websites.

 

Minimal evidence of having investigated the three criteria.

Two or more of the criteria lack serious investigation
Shows good evidence of having investigated all three criteria.
All three criteria -  authority, content, and design- have been thoroughly investigated.

 



Uses evaluation form data to rank assigned websites.

 

 

Ranks websites  without using evaluation form data, relying instead on self-selected criteria or opinion.
Inferences made are lacking in thoughfulness or are not completely based on evaluation form data.
Bases website rankings on evaluation form data but iinferences made lack thoughtfulness.
Makes thoughtful inferences about website rankings based on evaluation form data.

 

Makes oral presentation on website rankings based on criteria of authority, content, and design

 

Justification of website choice is poorly presented or not based on assigned criteria.
Justification of website choice is missing two of the criteria or the criteria are not clearly explained.
Justification of website choice is fairly convincing with at least two of the assigned criteria clearly explained.
Presents a thorough justification of website's top ranking based on the three assigned criteria

 

Visual component supports oral presentation
Visual component does not refer to the three judging criteria
Visual component includes only one of the judging criteria.
Visual component includes at least two of the judging criteria
Visual component iincludes all three judging criteria
