Where I've Been

Right across the city line from Philadelphia is a little suburb called Glenside.  This is the town where I grew up and the town in which I now live.  Other than a brief stint living in Washington D.C., I have lived in the area all my life.  Glenside is the type of town where you will find 2nd and 3rd generations of families making their homes.  Forget six degrees of separation - it's more like two degrees around here.  Wouldn't trade it for anything.

My Life as an Educator

Learning is my passion.  I have a need to constantly be learning something new.  My career in education has certainly afforded me the opportunity to always be intellectually stimulated.  For nine years I taught in Catholic school - Grades 2, 4, and computer teacher (back in the mid 80's).  In 1990 I moved over to the public school system and was a classroom teacher in 3rd grade and 5th grade.  For two years I taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies and English.  I also taught a few specials classes -  a Communication Arts class and 7th and 8th grade technology classes.  For the last two years I have been the school librarian and I plan to stay in this position until I retire (about 15 years from now).

When I'm Not Working...

I love to read (good hobby to have when you are a librarian), especially sitting on the beach with ocean waves crashing in the background. I come from a close-knit  family of 8 kids so birthday parties, weddings, christenings, and showers are a big part of my social life.  In the last few years I have taken up gardening.  I don't have a green thumb quite yet, but am working toward it.

Web Sites I Like

  • <>Follet's Titlewave is the site I most frequently use. Titlewave is a database of books and other materials that can be searched by curriculum topic, by grade level, by type of resource etc.
  • <>Franklin Institute Science Museum's website has many resources for science teachers.
  • I like to search Orbitz for travel tips.

This is a personal homepage and doesn't represent the opinions of my school. Last updated on April 1, 2000.
