We spent some fabulous days in Vienna rediscovering Doug's old stomping grounds.  To the left is the Rathaus where the summer music festival takes place.  The metal framework that is being disassembled in the background has projected upon great works of opera, ballet, and symphony each evening in the summer.  Doug's Senior prom was held here as well.

Many of the sites in Vienna have been updated since Doug's stay there.  The Parlament Building was under major construction, for example.  Marianne caught a glimpse of the uniquely Austrian way of life.  The great museums were breathtaking and we learned a lot about history and even fancy napkin-folding.
We saw so many different place settings at the palace dining museum it was dizzying.  Each new monarch required there own new table service, naturally.  Empress Elizabeth's table was also decorated with these stylized dolphins (left).

Below is the view from our hostel - a college dorm rented out in the summer to travelers.
We loved goofing around at Schonbrunn - what a hike!  Doug was surprised to see that they were painting the whole palace a lighter shade of yellow.

The gardens behind the palace are expansive.
