The
Process
Step
Five: The campaign speech.
It's time to put
your best effort together on behalf of your candidate.Write a speech
that will convince an audience of your peers that yours is the best
search engine.
You will be given a time slot for your delivery. Be sure
to
review
the evaluation rubric as you construct and plan your speech. Use these suggestions:
- Have the
candidate’s home page on the Internet projector screen as you begin.
- Start with
a rallying cry letting the world know the advantages of your candidate.
This
intro should summarize your candidate’s uniqueness and say why voters
should
elect your person.
- In the body of the
speech, continue with detailed information about your candidate’s
strengths on
the issues, being sure to include those issues you researched during
the
primary season. Use the numbers your
pollster found for you. Be sure you have included information on what
sets your
candidate apart from the others as the Positive Spin person has shown.
- Next demonstrate your candidate in
action.
Your Communications Director can help here. Plan so that one team
member will
operate the projection computer while the other(s) speak. Do searches
that
showcase the talent. Explain the
search. Give your audience a moment to absorb the search. Show features
and
don’t be afraid to talk about the candidate’s general appearance.
- With
your candidate’s
home page on the screen, continue the speech with your mudslinging. Why
shouldn’t an audience vote for the other candidates? Showing
a failure of another candidate is an option but don’t get
emphasize that. This shouldn’t be the bulk of your speech, just
enough
to let the audience know that all candidates aren’t as fine as yours.
- End with
a summary and a reason why voters should elect your candidate.
Once the speech is constructed, practice,
practice,
practice. Your delivery will impact
your candidate’s success!
Your teacher will post the speech presentation
dates and
announce a general voting day.
