Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3

By the way, I was downstairs at my friend Brenda's house when I made that phone call. My son was upstairs in our apartment with my dad. Brenda got me to calm down just a bit. Long enough for me to figure out a way to get Jens address in Connecticut. I called the phone company and gave them her name and phone number, and they just gave me the information I needed. I ran upstairs to my father and asked him if he could stay with Jacob for the night, that I had to go out. Mind you, my father is a very unique person, of a unique generation. He pretty much knew where I was going and why. All he said was "Please don't get into trouble." I assured him that I would not. I really had nothing to base that on, but I just told him that so he would stay with Jacob. I went into Steven game room, and printed out driving directions to Jens house. I then grabbed my coat and ran downstairs to tell Brenda I was going.

Brenda was on the phone with her boss, my friend Julie, whose husband happens to work for the police department. I don't know if I would call him an actual Police Officer. He is the City Dog Officer, but whenever there is a violent crime, he's always on the news at the scene, working with the Officers. That's close enough... he has connections. As soon as I realized who Brenda was talking to, I flew into a rage and went to bolt out of the door. Brenda was yelling to Julie that I was leaving. Brenda told me that Julie wanted to talk to me. I grabbed the phone and asked Julie where she was calling from. She said her cell phone. I knew that meant her and her husband Manny were on the road, coming to stop me. I threw the phone down and ran out of the door. Brenda started yelling to Julie again that I was leaving. Brenda told me later that Julie was telling her to stop me until they arrived.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on whose telling the story, my parking area is very small and tight. I have to do almost an 8-point turn to get out. As I was doing this, Brenda stood outside, yelling behind my car, in her bare feet, pleading with me to stop. I was in turn yelling at her to get away from the car that I would run her over. She jumped into my car with her cordless phone while I was maneuvering a turn. I flew down the street, and she continued to talk to Julie, telling her where we were going, and where we were headed. All I could picture in my head was Julie's husband talking on his little walkie-talkie thing, setting up roadblocks or something! LOL... I know, I thought I was a big time criminal!

I jumped on the highway, with Brenda yelling at me that she had to go to work that night. She works 3rd shift. I told her too bad, she should have stayed out of the car, but I was not stopping. Julie called us back on Brenda's cell phone after Brenda cordless phone went dead. I spoke to her, and she was very calm, very soothing. "Now, you know you cant go to this girls house, right?" I told yes I could, that look, I was going to this girl’s house! She wanted to know where she lived, but I wouldn't tell her. I might have been in a blind rage, but my senses I did not loose... at least not the senses that told me not to tell the Quasi Police Officers wife where I was going.

Julie kept reminding me that Brenda had to work that night, and she could not stay out. Again, I replied with "Too bad, she got in the car, and I am not stopping." I continued to drive down the highway, at the speed limit. I was not sure if Manny had called anyone and given them a description of my car. I did not want to stand out. I knew Julie and Manny lived far enough away that they were nowhere near me on the highway.

I continued to talk to Julie on the cell phone while I was driving (something I despise when I see it no less). I crossed the Braga Bridge, and Julie finally convinced me to in the least let Brenda out of the car. I told her that I would pull over and drop her off on the side of the highway, and they could pick her up. LOL... this does seem comical now, but man, this was heavy when it was happening. I felt like a fugitive with a hostage

I pulled over at the end of the bridge, with little to no break down lane, and told Brenda to get out. My goodness, but Manny and Julie were right behind me! They must have been going extremely fast to catch up to me. Brenda got out of the car, and I locked all of the doors. I couldn't just pull away because there was a line of traffic coming on the side of me. I waited, and watched Manny stroll up to my car in the rear view mirror. He went to the passenger side window and asked me to roll it down. I rolled in down a smidgen.

"Toi, let me in the car." "No, Manny, I'm not an idiot, you're going to try to stop me!" Manny continued to speak calmly, as I watched for an opening to get my car out of the on-existent breakdown lane. Somehow or another, he convinced me to open the door. But before I did I told him that if he thought he was going to get into the car, he had better jump in. As soon as I had an opening on the highway, I reached over, unlocked the door and slammed the gas pedal down. Sure enough, Manny was in my vehicle. I checked my coat pocket for my spare car keys, which I had taken along because it had Stevens car key on it as well.

Manny sat there for a second, absorbing the fact that he was in my car I guess. I just drove like a woman on a mission. At one point he asked me again where we were going, but I refused to tell him. I wasn't sure if he had his little walkie-talkie thing with him. He talked to his wife via the cell phone, but never said anything about where we were, so I didn't get anxious. Finally he asked me what my plan was. "I don't have a plan, Manny, I just have to go there. Maybe I'll take his car, I don't know." Manny then suggested (this was his attempt to keep me as far away from trouble as possible) that I simply get into Steven car and drive it away, and let him (Manny) take my car home. I said no, I am the kind of person that has to watch someone open their presents. I need to see their faces when I show up there. Maybe I'll remove the car, then knock on the door!" Manny said his whole thing was about avoiding the knock on the door.

About half way through the 2 1/2 hour drive, I called my home to check my messages. There was a message from Jen. She sounded like she had just woken up. "Yes, Toi, this is Jen. I just got your message. I've been out all day with my friend, her uncle just passed away. Give me a call, let me know what's going on." Harrumph. Give her a call? Give her a call! I'll give her a call all right! I called her.

When she answered the phone, I simply said, "Where is my husband?"
