The Light of Day
Unbelievable belongings, attached to his back
weigh him down and funk him out.
The load, excruciatingly real
yet unseen by the naked eye
has caused great pain
up and down his spine.
He travels by night
sleeps not
walking amongst the surreal
borderless landscape.
These infinite belongings
tucked in a bottomless backpack
bring back memories of how life once was
of how it could have transpired:
the decisions that were made
and unmade
the dangers that were confronted
and resisted
the dilemmas that were faced
and avoided
the delineations that were drawn
and erased
He travels by night
sleeps not
certain his eyes will one day
see the light of day.
