Syrian Front
Since 1949, Syria used the Golan Heights as a position from which to bomb Israeli houses, orchards, and grain fields.  During the Six Days War this position was used to destroy 205 Israeli houses, 175 acres of orchards, and 75 acres of grain.  With the continual bombardment, Israel was forced to wage a war with the Syrians as well.  The Syrian Front, though, differed from the other fronts in that the combat was limited to long-range artillery duels.  On June 8, the UN peacekeepers settled a cease-fire line, which was violated by both sides later that night.  On June 9, Israeli Major General David Elazar began his advance towards the Golan Plateau, where he fought through the Syrian defenses by nightfall.  Simutaneously, forces came into Golan from the South.  By June 10, the city Kuneitra was surrounded and a new cease-fire line was established.  Through this campaign, Israel captured Golan Heights and sent the Syrians back to Damascus.
