| The one thing She sighs as the other plays trot off onto the field. She knows where she wants to be. There is only thing separating her from that place. It's that wire fence, thats all. She yells encouragement to her team mates and friends. Sure they are where she wants to be, but they are still her friends. Just because she isn't out there doesn't mean she doesn't want them to do well. As she stands behind that wire fence, She thinks about why she isn't out there. She tries to figure out what the "only thing" is that really keeps her from that place. She thinks about a poem she read. It was about how she had all the greats have ever had. Yes she has two eyes, arms and legs. So whats her problem? She wonders. Oh, two outs now, shouldn't be long now till they come into the dugout. She knows it, but she quickly promises to herself. that she is going to take down that fence. She's going to work hard, though she knows it will not be easy. She's going to be the best she can be, even though it too will not be easy. She's going to take hold of her dreams, even though they seem so far way. She congratulates her team on a great inning. They prepare for their at bats getting on helmits and batting gloves. She smiles quietly to herself. She's going to prove herslef to the team, and prove that that "one thing" keeping her from playing can not hold her back forever, not matter what it is. By M.
