*The World of Sekai*

Songs

Keiko becomes a professional singer as soon as she's arrived in Sekai, and with some help, she debutes greatly as KeiKo. But what's a singer without lyrics? Therefore, you can read the lyrics I write for her nd for Mizumi on this page. Enjoy!

Sakura no Uta

Sakura no Uta, or Song of the Cherry Blossoms, is Keiko's debute song. It's known through entire Sekai, and Marina Tsubasa has also covered it once and toured with it. Keiko sings both the English and the Sekaian version, but here, I'll post the English version for your convenience. After all, Sekaian is a language only spoken in Sekai :).

Sakura no Uta
Words by
me

Gentle words were falling
that day I promised you
"the day the sakura blooms
is the day I'll return to you"

Are you still waiting for me
I wonder: do I still mean
something to you at all?
And inquiringly I stare
At the sakura petals that fall upon me

I'm singing the song of sakura
wondering if you'll hear me
if you'll come to me at all
I wish upon the falling petals
Asking the same question again:
"please, can you hear me?"

The wind is blowing sakura
I'm surrounded by petals
All of them carrying one wish
"please, hear my gentle song"

And again the words are flowing
Making a chain of phrases
Forming this one song for you:
the song of falling sakura
Will you finally hear me?

I'm singing the song of sakura
wondering if you'll hear me
if you'll come to me at all
I wish upon the falling petals
Asking the same question again:
"please, can you hear me?"

If you could really hear me
would you actually come?
Is it still me inside your heart,
or did someone else replace me?

(bridge)

I guess you don't hear me
or that you've replaced me after all
"Why don't you answer me?"
I ask, until I gaze at the ground

I'm singing the song of sakura
wondering if you'll hear me
if you'll come to me at all
I wish upon the falling petals
Asking the same question again:
"please, can you hear me?"

So now I know you'll never answer
Even though you're lying at my feet
But I know you should hear me
After all, you've waited for me
All these days
Underneath the sakura tree...

Wuthering Heights

During her first days in Sekai, Keiko discovers they also have movies there. The first movie she watches, is based on the novel 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bront (probably taken to Sekai by someone from Earth). She's inspired and moved by the movie, and decides to write lyrics about it. These lyrics tell the story from Catherine Linton's point of view, the 'second Catherine' if you like.

Wuthering Heights
Words by
me

Raindrops drip on my face
I taste them, bitterly
They trickle on the ground
Moisten my mothers grave

Raindrops meddle with my tears
Drop on the grave I see
A grave carrying my own name
Are we bound by more than blood?

Like you
I can feel
I will bear
The same feelings you once had
The same pain you once felt
Why must I be the same?
Why is the same fate hitting me?

This man I think you loved
Handles me with nothing
But deep, angry vengeance
As if I were the one to blame

For no reason I went to your grave
Covered with moss, youve lied here
For as long as I have lived my life
I took your life are you taking mine?

Like you
I can feel
I will bear
The same feelings you once had
The same pain you once felt
Why must I be the same?
Why is the same fate hitting me?

Will I ever break the circle we hold?
Its the only bond Ive ever had with you
We both felt this pain of deep intensity
The pain thats now tearing my heart apart

I think I loved him once, in a faraway past
Hes so changed now, he has been morphed
His heart is yet even more fragile than mine
Its collapse will only be a matter of time

Like you
I can feel
I will bear
The same feelings you once had
The same pain you once felt
Why must I be the same?
Why is the same fate hitting me?

Maybe my pining will come to an end
Maybe the circle of pain will finally break
Maybe, maybe
Maybe
I even might learn how to love again

Like you
I am now
But like you
I am not willing to end
My life, my heart is my possession
The road theyll take is mine to decide

I thank you, mother
Youve given me hope again.

My Theme

The actual title of this song is 'Marina Tsubasa's Theme', and it basically tells her deepest feelings. It is therefore that it's only Mizumi who performs with this song. It was one of the first lyrics she wrote herself, and it was an instant hit. Good for her, huh?

My Theme - Marina Tsubasa
Words by
me

I turn off the light
Fall flat on the bed
Its the middle of the night
And Im all alone again

Unable to speak
Aware of the dark
Afraid of everything
I look into the mirror

Looking back at myself
I feel so insecure
As if I went back in time
Still with my unknown face

I wash off my mask
Reveal my true face
And as I sit down
I cry bitter tears

Crying out loud
Feeling my heart break
Looking up again
Facing my own face

Looking back at myself
I feel so insecure
As if we started over,
But not better again

I now grab my sheets
Cover my old face
Hiding in the pillow
I cant stop crying

In need of comfort
Seeking solace
Longing for you
I then look up

Looking back at myself
I feel so insecure
Gasping for some breath
Holding on to you

Looking back at myself
I felt so insecure
At first, but from now
I can look back at you, too
