WANNA KNOW ABOUT WHO MINI IS??

This picture was taken in Kyung Hee University, on April 2003.
My name is Min-Jung Kang, but many friends and professors call me "Mini." I am a proud Korean, living in Seoul at this moment. (year 2003)

Even though, I am currently living in Korea, I love listening to many kinds of music from all over the country. One of my favorite type of music is "New Age Music."

The picture below was taken after our play, Midsummer Night's Dream, was over this winter on January 25th, 2003.
Related to New Age Music, first of all, I would like to introduce my boyfriend to you guys.

He is the very person who has influenced me to listen to more New Age musics and to know much more about New Age musicians. Before I met him, I always thought most of so-called "New Age(NA)" music had bad influence on teenagers making them to feel melancholy excessively while listening to it. I also heard from somewhere that New Age music made several teenagers to commit suicide, after becoming depressed too much!

However, after I met my boyfriend and went to some New Age music concerts together, I knew that was a prejudice.

What do I use when searching for New Age Music related information?

I mainly use Yahoo.com to search with in Open directory engines.

I find Yahoo.com very user-friendly primarily because I'm more used to it than other unheard-of-before sites. Familiarity is important to me because I get lost more easily in unknown places and I get stuck in how to use the unknown directories. Though I did not know before how to make the best use out of subject directories such as Yahoo.com - I used to simply type the keyword and that was all I can do - I find easier to surf around to search any related information.

In Yahoo.com, you can narrow down your searching area by clicking on the related web-site directory. For my theme, New Age music, I mainly found information within the "Entertainment" website directories and "News & Media" directories. Instead of finding the related information from the whole web directories, rather finding in each category helps you to focus on what you want to find within the new age music. For instance, within the "entertainment" category, I focused on finding new age artists, their biographies, etc. Actually if you simply type in "new age music" you can find a great amount of useful information following the search results, called 'more sites about.' Moreover, within the "News & Media" category, I expected to find some new age music clips that I can link to my homepage, so the visitors of my homepage will be able to listen to some of new age music. Though I haven't found the wanted-information within this category, however, I found some useful information and nice images from the online music magazines.

Probably within other search engines, such as Google or AltaVista, I would have found similar information. However, I probably would have gone through a great amount of URLs without knowing what I am really focused on and getting tired of reading and finding unrelated information as well. In this way, the subject directories, especially Yahoo.com which I am more familiar to, helps me to focus on certain category and reduces my time surfing.
