My name is Erinin. I am Far Dareis Mai, of the Nine Valleys Sept of the Taardad Aiel. My
first mother was a wise one named Adela, and my sister-mother was Far Dareis Mai named
Jelaide. My father was a blacksmith named Ockam, and well respected for his craftsmanship.
I am told that I share my name with a "river" from the wetlands that Jelaide had heard of
when she crossed the Dragon Wall, since I was born near an especially deep well. I would
occasionally work the forge with my father, which led to a large amount of my strength,
since I possess more than even the average Aiel woman. But, no matter what Adela or Ockam
asked of me, I always dreamed of being able to be Far Dareis Mai. I learned many skills by
simply playing as a child. Playing among the rocky cliffs improved my balance, and my
ability to climb. And of course, every time that I spotted my parents looking for me, I had
to avoid them seeing me so that I could play longer. However, play quickly turned into
training, and I was soon Far Dareis Mai. About a year ago, Adela said that other Wise Ones
had announced that a search for the Car'a'carn must begin. My clan chief, Rhuarc,
determined that small scouting parties should be sent into the wet lands to conduct the
search, rather than raiding parties. I was honored enough to be selected at only 17 to be
able to join Jelaide in the party. A small group of 15 Far Dareis Mai went out ahead of a
group of Stone Dogs and Red Shields. We had traveled for roughly 3 months, and we had
entered the wet lands, when we came to a river we were unable to cross. Deciding that we
could attempt to ride in one of the "water-carts" we had seen the wetlanders taking back
and forth after dark, we all climbed in and prepared. It was the most disheartening
experience ever. Never had I seen so much water all at once, but more terrifying was how
the water MOVED beneath my feet. Our skills were useless in that boat and we all held on
for dear life as it feebly moved across the "river", mostly moving further down. At one
point, I wanted to look up, to see how close we were to land. I looked, and the sky seemed
to come down and meet the water, and I panicked and fell in. Luckily, Jelaide was quick
enough to save me. However, from then on, I could not even make camp within ear shot of
water. In order to meet my toh I collected fire wood for our party for some time. During
one search for wood, I encountered a party of wetlanders all in white. I was going to
merely collect my wood, and return, but they must not have seen me, and a branch cracked
and surprised them. Obviously upset at being caught off-guard, three rushed at me. Although
I was able to strike them, my hands did nothing, and I was beginning to tire. I was able to
trip one, and he hit his head on a rock. Not thinking, I reached for his weapon, and lashed
out at the other two. Suddenly, the rest of the men were shouting, and running towards me.
Realizing I would be unable to successfully fight the rest, I ran back to the group. When I
arrived, all they did was stare at me. I looked down, and realizing that I was carrying a
bloody sword in my hand. I dropped the sword and ran from my group, and found a large town.
I learned that its name was Caemlyn. Never before had I seen such a so many people in such
a small place, with buildings so large. I decided that here is where I would find the
Car'a'carn, and meet my toh. So, I sat, and waited...
