CHILDREN

Photos of children by Jim Stewart
As in all wars there is the legacy of the children left behind.  It has been estimated that 50,000 children were born to U.S. servicemen and civilian workers in Vietnam.

Tran Thi Mai is one of those Amerasians, now a woman in her 30's.  Her father was killed in an auto accident while on leave in the United States.
Abandonded by her mother she now searches for her.  Her mother allegedly lives in Massachusetts.  Anyone having knowledge   should contact me.

Brian Hjort is from Denmark and helps Amerasians to reunite with their fathers.  If you are a father and want to try to help your child find you please visit:

The children were always ready with a pose and smile.
Innocence and war.  Not a good mix.
Always curious.  Never judgmental.
Kids are kids the same all over the world, but not all have seen war.
The  Amerasian man to the left was reunited with his father only recently.  His father is pictured with the man's mother who, unfortunately, died a young death in Vietnam.

Giap A Sach was born in 1969 and his father is a Lt. Pendergrass an Air Force helicopter pilot out of Bien Hoa Air Base.  The resemblance to his father is quite noticeable.
Vo Thanh Hien.  His father is D. Erwin a Navy man who worked at the Metropole building.
Vo Thi Thu born in 1965 to a Fox Cooper who worked at Ton Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon.
This beautiful girl waits at the Philippino resettlement area.
This Amerasian lady has a family of her own.  There is American blood in all of her children.
Doug Dragert took these pics of playful boys in Ben Cat and an orphan boy looking after his sister in the Saigon Zoo.  Below, Lee Simmons took these photos of kids in the village of Xuan Loc.
