Celtic hero contronts FirbolgFantasy

Okay, not ALL of my gaming is historical. I do enjoy occaisonal games involving armies from fiction novels, legends or mythology. In other words -- Fantasy, like "The Lord of the Rings" and stuff.

Currently, my two favorite set of fantasy miniatures rules are Hordes of the Things and Fantasy Rules. Up until a year or so ago, I was a huge fan of Chipco's FR!, as Fantasy Rules is known as. However, I have recently been more intrigued by the simpler, more generic, but probably more balanced HOTT (as Hordes of the Things is known). Both are excellent games. I'm just into HOTT more, now.

I do my Fantasy gaming in 15mm, just like my Ancients. As a matter of fact, many of my armies use my historical figures as their base. Add a huge, winged Sphinx, some hippos and crocs to an Egyptian army (and maybe a Mummy or two), and you have a fantasy one. Ditto for the Greeks. Throw in some Centaurs, Gods, harpies, Cyclops, etc., on top of my 15mm Greeks and you have another army.

Currently, one of our regular Sunday gamers -- Steve Sattler -- is running a HOTT campaign. I am using my 15mm Elves (one of my pure fantasy armies) in it, while the other guys control Undead, Orcs, Chaos, Holy Medieval and Lizardmen. You will see updates from it on the Daydreams section of the home page.

Fantasy Armies

Here are some of the fantasy armies I own. I will (slowly, I'm sure) add pictures:

Pure Fantasy Armies: Elves, Dwarves, Undead, Chaos, Lizardmen.

Semi-Historical Armies: Egyptians, Greeks.

Strongholds: HOTT rules dictate that the defending army has a Stronghold on board. Much like with my Ancient camps, this gives me a chance to do some cool modeling.
