Generic Tower StrongholdGeneric Tower

This is another stronghold from that strong house of such buildings -- Dollar Tree. It was bought (for 25 cents!) as a lighthouse. I sliced off the top part and added crenellations by carving up a 35mm plastic film container and epoxying it down on top. If you look closely, or perhaps you don't have to look too close, you can see the difference in the "purchased" stonework and the painted one.

The goal of this project was to make a generic tower that could be used as a stronghold by a variety of races. Thus, I went to the hardware store and purchased metal washers that fit inside the tower's top. I rummaged through my leftover unpainted lead (which MUST be saved by all true camp or stronghold modelers!) and found an archer/missile man and somebody to convert to a standard bearer for half a dozen races.

The tower as pictured is garrisoned by generic Medieval troops (like the handpainted banner?). I can pick them up, though, and replace them with Arabs, Romans, Celts, Orcs and Greeks. I've added a picture below of all five of the other garrisons.

I bought two other lighthouses at the same time -- hey, it was 4 for a dollar -- that may eventually make their way into production, too.

Garrisons for Generic Tower

All banners are handpainted. The bases are gray to match the tower, of course, when plopped down into it.
