1992 Mustang Disassembly

In order to begin disassembly of the 92 it had to be moved to a convenient location. The tow truck left it on the other side of the driveway and we needed it in front of the garage. Click here for that story.
Dealing with the rear
The first thing we did was to remove the parts from the back of the car. H&R Springs and the last section of brake line on the rear were removed. We were able to leave the rear in because we had a Ford Motorsport 8.8 w/ 3.27 gears lying around already. We also had lower control arms ready to go in to the new notch. Bilstein shocks that didn't get to go into the 92 were going into the 88 as well. Cat back exhaust was removed and trasferred over. Tech Tip: Remember to put your new exhaust in before setting up the rear end. You'll have a hell of a time trying to get the pipes around the rear without unbolting it completely. Also, the drums are the same on the 7.5 and 8.8 rear. So detatch the parking brake on the back of the drum of the 7.5 and then hook it up on 8.8.

Worried about wiring? Remove it without confusion here.
Fuel system and brake lines
The fuel lines and brake lines are different on both cars. The fuel lines travel differently under the car and end on the wrong side of the engine compartment. The brake lines are different as well. There are so many differences with the brake lines its not worth going into. Trust me and change everything. The holes for screws and bracketry is the same for both cars regardless of the engine so installation is not difficult. Tech Tip: It's a good idea to put in the fuel and brake lines together underneath the car as they share some of the same brackets. The fuel pump is the same and does not need to be changed. You will have to get the fuel/AC line disconnect tool set to get some of the fittings off. This is completely necessary.

Interior and dash
There were some differences between the two interios and dash. The dash had different allocations for A/C controls and the 88 had a fuel door release button. The metal support was also a little different. The 92 piece was more stout. We decided to use the dash, metal support and center console from the 92 and put it in the 88. The color will be a slight mismatch. The 88 is blue and the 92 interior is gray. We will take this opportunity to run all new speaker wire as well. The factory 6 speaker wiring set up is done quite poorly.
