Moving the 92

When the tow truck dropped off the 92 we had a slight problem. Problem number one was that the car was on the opposite side of the driveway and would be inconvenient to work so on far from the garage. Problem number two was that it wouldn't roll. When we hit the telephone pole, it struck the driver's side wheel and moved the whole section back a few inches. The tire was rubbing against the wheelwell sheetmetal and wasn't cooperating.

Luckily we had a block and tackle which was picked up at a garage sale for $25. We attatched to the front radiator support and to a couple of different trees in order to get the car into place. This worked very well. The problem wheel offered little resistence when using the block and tackle.

Once we had the car where we wanted it we had one problem, the nose was in the right spot but the rear was about 8 feet over too far. We had already taken the shocks out so the car's rear was very bouncy. This is when I remembered what my friend John O'Dea, from the Bronx, had told me. We could hop the car to the location we wanted. While one person bounced the car up and down, the other pushed it over where we wanted. It worked great and the car was no in position for complete stripping.
