There are many types media, some positive some negative. A lot of media which seems to be very positive can also be "brainwashing" you by using underhanded advertising techniques. For example the picture on the right, is supporting a good cause (tell your children to play in parks, not to play on the street), but they are using a very underhanded technique of making you feel guilty, so that you will donate money to their organization.
An example of negative would be the "uncle-sam" campaign launched by the U.S. government to recruit people to the army. This media uses a technique in which the campaigner is trying to make you feel close to you and tell you that your family will be happy if you join the army. This is another underhanded technique used by the media to get you to do what they want (usually they wnat your money).
The Media will use many techniques to manipulate you to what they want you to, or beleive what they want you to beleive. To use your example, Mr. Genge, if a newspaper wrote that "a bus crashed into a bus stop and killed 9 people" you will immediately think oh the poor people, but if the same newspaper wrote that "a chinese bus driver crashed into a bus stop", you will think about an unfair prejudice that people have against chinese people. As you can now see the media is a powerful tool which can manipulate you just be adding 2 or 3 extra words.
