My Children
I have three daughters and a son. The eldest among them is Charlie. She is married now and already had a son, my grandson. Her brother Carlo is working and living with his mom, Maria Theresa. I did not have the chance to be with Charlie and Carlo since they were 8 and 6 years old respectively. In 1999, Charlie managed to communicate with me through my cell phone. They had visited my mother in Muntinlupa City who gave them my number. Since then our communication line was opened. I was so very happy having the opportunity to be in touch with my kids again after 3 years of working here in Cagayan de Oro City. However, it still took 7 more years before we finally met together in 2007.
The picture on the right is Charlie. She was 7 years old in this picture. It was taken during their school program where she performed a dance number. She is a very sweet and loving kid. Today, we chat every now and then on the Internet via Facebook. She is presently working in Japan while her husband and son lives in Parañaque City. The last time I went to Manila on November 16 to 18 last year (2013), I had a chance to be with my son Carlo, my son-in-law Daniel and of course, my grandson Danferd. Too bad, Charlie was still in Japan and was not able to be with us. However, meeting my only grandson was a new mixed-up emotion I have ever felt. Likewise, Danferd was so excited and don't even want to separate from me when it's already time to bade goodbye. I was also very thankful to my son-in-law, Daniel, who has helped us in booking in a hotel in Manila the night before our morning flight back to Cagayan de Oro City.
Here, Charlie is 3 years old while Carlo is 1. This picture was taken while I was still living with them in Makati City. Luckily, I was able to bring along a few pictures of my two kids with me here in Cagayan de Oro that served as my strength to keep moving on with my life. I can't forget how happy we are when we still live together. We used to frequent the malls in Makati City Business Center. I can never imagine how things went wrong and how it took us apart from each other at the very early age of my two kids. It has indeed become very painful for me living a life away from them. It's like moving along a dire strait where no one knows what lies ahead at the end of such a journey. I am sure they suffered the same feelings that I felt, or should I think; they might have been so mad at me otherwise. They were so young to be in that kind of situation. A 10-long years without a father, likewise, a 10-long years without my two kids besides me. Who could ever withstand something like this in life? Don't ask me please, I may not be able to find the right words to describe the answer to that question anymore. All I know, I was missing my kids too much. Then one day, it came like a big surprise, and I was so
nervous when I suddenly heard Charlie's voice over my cellular phone. I jumped upon my feet, and my heart pounded so hard in happiness. I cannot really express how I felt that day. My tears fell while I talked with her. My voice was faltering, and hers was in a high tone. I envisioned her as jumping filled with joy.
My third child is Irisjen. Just like Charlie, she is very loving and a wonderful child. She also loves to go to the malls here in Cagayan de Oro City, like SM CDO City, Limketkai, Ororama, and Gaizano Mall. The beach is number one among the places she loves going to. She makes me happy all the time. She was once this little child who will just burst into laughter upon seeing anybody in an awkward situation. Eventually, you will laugh with her as she giggles her way into your heart. She was always fascinated with flowers of all types, even the grasses' flowers that we usually see along the sidewalks. Oh my, she will never get contented, unless she picked at least one flower that she saw. And while she walks along, everybody just can't help looking at her and sometimes would have a pinch on her cheeks. I always feel so proud whenever I hear people say she is so cute and beautiful, and I will unfailingly agree to that, I am her father anyway. I am sure you are going to also agree with me that nothing can compare to the happiness brought about by a child to a parent. You will never regret getting old. Together with her mother, Mercy, my life has changed to a better one. Forgetful of the past miseries, everything has been changed to a simple life, full of love, hopes and enthusiasm. And while, Irisjen continued to cheer our lives, God sent us another gift that added up to our gratefulness to Him. He blessed us with another beautiful child; we named her Kate Danielle.
Kate Danielle, is my youngest child. A cute little girl who resembles the facial features of my mother. Yes, she does looks like my mom, I could say she replicates my mother. She is full of love and never jealous of her older sister Iris. She can easily be contented with what she has. She is, by the way, so close to her mom. She goes wherever her mommy goes. She won't let herself left alone. At home, she is playful and always introduce new learned things to me on her own little way. She tells a lot of stories that she made up herself, like about dragons, witches, talking animals and sort of all types of stories you'll never think that one little child can imagine. Well, she made me more fulfilled as a father, because at her very early age she shows regards and cares for her parents and sister. At times, she will share the food she ates by putting some on my mouth, her mother's and her sister's as well. It is but normal that jealousy arises between siblings as her elderly sister Iris shows this kind of feelings towards her. However, never did I see Kate to have been jealous on her elderly sister. She can give up anything in favor of Iris. Well, this gives me a peace of mind, knowing my youngest child can do good things to his sister. And that creates a more serene relationship between them. I think; I could not ask for more. My life is made up again. A new open line of communication with Charlie and Carlo, a loving wife and two kids to watch upon...this is my life, and I really love it!
