1)    I pay close attention to non-verbal communication.  What people
say with their bodies can be more accurate than what they say with words.
2)    When writing a memo at work I take the time to make sure it is clear and is written in language all of my co-workers will understand.
3)    When I speak to an employee I make sure he/she gets a chance to have their opinions voiced.
4)    When my colleagues speak I actively listen to them  - that is, I put my own ideas aside for the moment.
5)    I believe that communication is the foundation for a successful business, large or small.
6)    I acknowledge individual diversity in my workplace communications.
7)    When I disagree with someone I am careful with my response.
8)    I strive to be straightforward and clear in my communications.
9)    When coaching someone in the workplace I try to empower with my words.
10)  I encourage my employees to communicate openly.

Scoring:
If you scored between 10-23 on this scale you are low on the communication scale.  If you scored between 24-36 you communicate moderately well.  If you scored 37-50 you are a good communicator!  But, there is always room for improvement!
