ACADEMICS - LABS AND PRACTICAL EXAMS Practical exams have always played in vital role in boosting our percentage. Apart from that, practical classes were opportunities to venture out of our jailed classroom and have good chats. Here are some interesting things regarding some of our practicals. First year - 3rd semester - 4th semester - 5th semester - 6th semester - 7th semester - Final semester
The first year had three lab sessions, namely Physics, Chemistry and Workshop labs. We had to wear a grey coat as the lab coat. This was common for all the branches. Physics Laboratory - was sometimes boring and sometimes monotonic. Since we were in our first year, the staff used to black mail us very easily regarding the practical exam marks. Some people were axed in the Physics practical exam. Then that was forgotten. Chemistry Laboratory - was sometimes boring and sometimes monotonic. Since we were in our first year, the staff used to black mail us very easily regarding the practical exam marks. Workshop Practice - was lot of hard work. I remember the comedy of the lab assistant speaking in English. We had to wear shoes (even the girls) for entering the Workshop and fold our full-hand sleeves.
Electrical Machines Laboratory - the EEE HOD asked us several questions before signing the record. I remember speaking to him for one and half hours regarding the subjects, while all the others vanished and waited for me to get the sign. Electronics Laboratory - I - was the learning ground to start of with our ECE subjects. We all remember the external examiner for this practical - an old man from Sairam Engg college who created a lot of fuss and put us in embarrassing situations.
Computer Laboratory- remember our faculty Mr.Dinesh only took the attendance and then vanished thereafter for the rest of the lab session. This was the case in almost all the lab classes. Yet finally everything ended on a good note for all. Electronics Laboratory - II - was the continuation of the previous lab. Anyway it was good and we slowly started to improve our practical skills.
Electronics Laboratory - III - no output for any experiment, difficult experiments, many of us manipulated the readings from previous records. And during the practical exam, I remember the external examiner creating scenes, raising his voice, scolding some of us - one of Kelvin worth remembering. Integrated Circuits Laboratory - was a relatively easy lab and the outputs were really cool and good. We had enjoyed a lot. For the first time, we were in an air-conditioned lab in the ECE department.
Microprocessor Laboratory - I - was good to start of with assembly language programming and we all had a good hands-on experience. It was good and creative for some of us including me. Electronics and Communication Engineering Lab - was fairly ok with respect to the difficulty levels. Sometimes it was a bit monotonic.
Microprocessor Laboratory - II - was the continuation of the previous lab but a lot improved one. It was good and creative for some of us including me. Microwave Electronics and Communication Engineering Lab - boring and difficult experiments. Most of the time, we didn't get the output and also we were not sure whether the output was correct or not.
Project Work and Viva Voce -
each one of us were engaged in our own project work. We managed
them with the expertise we had gathered in the early semesters.
