It's time. You can choose from any defensive player if you are in training camp. In mini camp however you get two players to try and stop the offense. A LB and a DB. Use them wisely because if you don't, ouch that 250 point touchdown penalty could hurt. Stop the RB behind the line and let him know who's the boss.
This mini game can be very easy if you take the right angles. Rookie and Pro are the easiest in the single back formation, but as you enter All-Pro you'll find yourself facing an I-Formation. This makes it a little trickier, also gets the DB a lot more involved.
- Keeping control of the linebacker would be your best bet at the start. He will be the better tackler and with this amazing lineup of linebackers, he'll have the speed to get the job done. Using your defensive moves will help you get around blockers in order to give that RB a beating. If you get blocked, however, DO NOT be afraid to switch to the DB. You will have a much better chance to stop the RB earlier instead of waiting to break free of the blocker.
- The computer isn't stupid either, they can use moves too. Take the wrong angle and you're bound to get embarassed. Make sure you don't overpursue or you'll find yourself switching to that DB again.
- If you know you are not going to get to the RB to make the tackle, make sure he runs in the direction of the DB. That way when you switch you will have a good angle and be sure to make the stop.
- Shooting the gap can be very affective, especially against single back formations. Shoot the gap everytime on a single back, however on an I-Formation things change. Shooting the gap can be very risky, but it is a good form of causing fumbles. If you are going to take the risk be ready to switch to that DB just in case. As for that pesky FB, the best way to get around him is to wait till you pursues you. That way you'll know hes committed and you can try to make an attempt to sprint around him, thus popping the RB's top off.
