| A.D.D., also called hyper-activity, is a condition affecting a child's ability to learn or to engage in social activities. A.D.D. is prevalent in 3-10% of children, usually developing before the child reaches the age of ten. Behaviors typical of a child with A.D.D. include: > Difficulty completing activities at school or play requiring concentration. > Difficulty following instructions, does not seem to listen to things said to him/her. > Excessive activity (child constantly climbs or runs). > Impulsiveness, does not think before acting or speaking. > Talks excessively, has difficulty playing quietly. > Frequently interrupts the activities of others. > Calling out in class. > Inability to wait his/her turn in activities, games or groups. As with other childhood disorders, the child with A.D.D. should have professional help as soon as possible so that they do not get behind in school. * This website is an educational, information site only.
