She wanted to become what she wasn't
thin
blonde
beautiful.
Her flesh melted
to reveal an hourglass skeleton
no one saw through her.
Reflections distorted on her face.
Surreal.
Soon, eating nonsense
she wasn't what she'd become.
She was nothing.
n o t h i n g
And praise whistled through her
snatching at the remaining grains of sand.
Until at last
a final grain slipped
from behind transparent glass
hidden from eyes
absorbed in their own reflections
on her polished surface.
