THE CARETAKER

I met a man just the other day
While visiting Mom at her grave,
He drove by, and just my luck
In his favorite pick-up truck.

I told him how upset I was
Her flower always rooted up,
He felt my grief, the pain too much
And helped me in his Chevy truck.

He drove me to another grave
Where twin boys eternally laid,
Born too soon, not fully-grown
God took both, his babies home.

He is the caretaker of many lots
Both, his sons and the Mother I lost.
A simple man of compassion, love
Caretaker, Angel, just doing his job.

He understood the complaint I made
And planted a lilac above her grave.
Only too thankful for all he has done
Mother now cradles his twins, his sons.

Dedicated to Dennis
