MOTHERS SHOULDN'T

Mothers have babies,
and love them so
Give them what they need,
and watch them grow.
They nurture, and feed,
what's good for them
When they have fever,
they give them aspirin.

They take out the chill,
with a bowl of soup
Wrap them in blankets,
and call them cute.
They worry, wonder,
what life holds for them
Mothers hug you,
when you just need a friend.

Mother's have babies;
it's their purpose in life
They wed their spouses,
and become their wives.
They shouldn't have to bury,
newborns or teens
Babies they carried,
throughout their pregnancy.

They shouldn't have to mourn,
to grieve their child
It's a life long pain,
harboring deep inside.
They shouldn't have to wonder,
what could have been
What the future did hold,
has now come to an end.

They shouldn't have to visit,
cemetaries, the graves
Where they buried their teens,
children young at age.
Mother's shouldn't have to feel,
the loss of their babe
The heartache that follows,
unsweetened serenade.
