The only room on the second floor to retain its plaster walls and ceiling, this front Bedroom features heart-of-pine floors, crown molding, and a victorian-style ceiling fan/lighting fixture. Three large, southern-exposed, windows provide an abudance of natural light as well as easy access to the porch roof for maintenance activities. This bedroom contains the last remaining indication of how the home was originally heated - a hot air vent in the floor. This vent would have permitted heat from the first floor wood stove to rise to heat this room. In addition, the bullseye molding and fluted door casings on the inside of the closet lead us to conclude that this was formerly a doorway into a back bedroom. |
