“Have
ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believe” This question was asked
of the disciples at Ephesus by Paul to which they replied, “We have
not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost”. (Acts 19:2)
Paul saw that there was something lacking and so he preached Baptism
in the name of the Lord Jesus, laid hands on them and, “The Holy
Ghost came on them and they spake with tongues and prophesied”.
(Acts 19:5 -6)
These believers wanted
to know more about the Holy Ghost and when the opportunity presented
itself they responded.
-Are you a believer?
-Have you been baptized
in water in the name of the Lord Jesus?
-Have you received the
Holy Ghost since you believed?
If the answer is as the
disciples at Ephesus and you have not as much as heard about the
holy Ghost, then…” Him declare I know unto you.”
THE HOLY GHOST IS:
PROMISED
to all those who believe, repent and is baptized.
“Repent and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for t he remission of
sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the
PROMISE is unto you and unto your children and to all that are afar
off even to as many as the Lord our God shall call”. (Acts 2:38 &
39)
TEACHER
Having received the
Holy Ghost our lives will be controlled by the master teacher. “For
the Holy
Ghost shall TEACH you
in the same hour what ye ought to say”. (Luke 12:12)
“…The Holy Ghost, whom the father will
send in my name, he shall TEACH you all things and bring all things
to your remembrance…”. (John 14:26) “Which things also we speak mot
in words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost
teacheth;” (1 Corinthians 2:13)
“The COMFORTER, which is the Holy
Ghost…, in your life can support & comfort you through difficult
periods, as seen in the early church (John 14:26). “Then had the
Churches rest…and were edified and walking in the fear of the Lord
and in the COMFORT of the Holy Ghost, where multiplied”. (Acts 9:31)
POWER
We cannot remain weak, passive and
powerless after the Holy Ghost comes into our lives. The Holy Ghost
is God himself and is almighty and all powerful.
“But ye shall receive POWER after that the
Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me…”
(Acts 1:8). What power?
Power to heal; to witness; to live above
sin, power to do the works that Christ did and even greater works.
INTERCESSOR
Often we find ourselves in need of someone
to intercede on our behalf. Thank God we have the Spirit (Holy
Ghost) who does that for us. The scripture says:
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our
infirmities for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but
the
Spirit itself maketh intercession for us
with groanings which cannot be uttered… because he maketh intercession for the
saints according to the will of God”. (Romans 8:26 & 27).
GOD
HIMSELF
He has returned to take
up His abode within the lives of all those who will have him do so,
when the Holy Ghost is active in our lives the fruit of the spirit:
-LOVE,
JOY, PEACE, LONGSUFFERING, GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, MEEKNESS,
TEMPERANCE.
(Galatians 5:22- 23) are all evident and we are able to live above
sin, leading a victorious life through our dependence on the Holy
Ghost.
