According to the Easton's Bible Dictionary "'Godhead"
signifies the essential being or the nature of God.' According to
the Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary... the Greek word 'Theios'
means "'divine"... In Acts 17:29 it is used as a noun with the
definite article, to denote "the Godhead," the Deity (i.e., the one
true God).' While the word 'Theiotés' denotes
'divinity,... in Col 2:9 , Paul is declaring that in the Son there
dwells all the fullness of absolute Godhead; they were no mere rays
of Divine glory which gilded Him,...; bud He was, and is, absolute
and perfect God; and the apostle uses theotés to express this
essential and personal Godhead of the Son. Theotés indicates the
"divine" essence of Godhood, the personality of God; theiotés, the
attributes of God, His "divine nature and properties.'
Since both dictionaries states that godhead is the only one and
true God, His nature, personality even divinity, this signifies that
this is the very Creator, the Alpha and Omega.
The word 'godhead' only appears three (3) time in the bible, only
in the New Testament (Acts 17:29; Rom. 1:20; Col. 2:9) by Paul. The
word 'apostle' appears nineteen time in the bible, and sixteen time
it was in reference to Paul. Apostle Paul was the apostle appointed
to the gentiles (Rom 11:13, 1 Tim 2:7, 2 Tim 1:11), who received
revelations upon revelations about Jesus Christ (Gal 1:12, 15-17,
Gal 2:2, Eph 3:3), who hath already a master in the Law of Moses
(Acts 22:3) and a Pharisee (Acts 23:6, Acts 26:5, Phil 3:5).
Acts 17:28-29 "For in him we live, and move, and
have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we
are also his offspring.
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we
ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or
silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device."
Here, Apostle Paul affirms that the Godhead is not something made
with hand or lifeless materials, but is alive. Also that we are made
in is likeness, that we are even His heirs.
Romans 1:19-20 "Because that which may be known of God is
manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation
of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that
are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they
are without excuse:"
Paul is saying to the Romans that even nature reveals the power
and presence of God, that no one will have any justification in not
believing in His existence. Even the invisible things of God, can be
seen through creation, thus, taking away any excuse of not knowing
about or believing in God.
Colossians 2:6-10 As ye have therefore received Christ
Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as
ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy
and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of
the world, and not after Christ.
For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the
Godhead bodily.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of
all principality and power:
Apostle Paul is now bringing it home to us, that the Godhead, is
in Jesus Christ, and even is Jesus. He started off, in encouraging
us as Christian to continue in walk with Him, and not to deceived by
vain teachings. Then, he confirms that the fullness, all of the
Godhead dwells in Jesus Christ and in Him alone.
The word trinity, is not found in the scripture. The idea of
Trinity God in three persons, but unified as one is a myth started
with Emperor Constantine at the rise of Roman Catholic, who could
comprehend the one of God facts. The bible states in 1 Corin 2:14
"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because
they are spiritually discerned." So, this understanding comes with
God's revelation.
In 1 John 5:7 the bible states " For there are three that bear
record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one." Points to note, it states "THESE THREE ARE
ONE" not "Agree in one" as the water, the blood, and the spirit. One
God, but He work in many offices, areas, purposes, ways and so on.
With records such as Deut 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is
one LORD:" Zechariah 14:9 "And the LORD shall be king over all the
earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one." 1
Corin 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are
all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are
all things, and we by him. And Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith,
one baptism.
Don't misunderstand Jesus is the name of God, but the name Jesus
Christ (the anointed one) signifies the Son (God in Flesh -1 Timothy
3:16, John 1:14) as our personal Savior and Sacrifice.
There are other scriptures that assures one that there is only
one God, one in the Godhead (not a panel), for is only one- Jesus. |
