All About Simon
Born Simon John Pegg on February 14th, 1970 in Gloucester. He graduated from Bristol university in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, film and television.
Educated at Bristol University , Simon Pegg started out as a stand-up comedian before making the move to television and film. In 1995, he made the show Six Pairs Of Pants, where he met Jessica Stevenson and Edgar Wright.
Spaced, however, put him firmly on the comedy map. Written by and co-starring Pegg and Jessica Stevenson, this original and brilliantly observed sit-com marked them both as major comedy talents. The second series solidified the shows' cult status. This comedy revolves around
the lives of friends Tim and Daisy who rent a room in Marsha Klein's house under the pretense that
they are a couple. Tim and Daisy meet in a café, both poring over accommodation advertisements, and after a few such encounters a friendship develops. When they spot an advert for the perfect flat (23 Meteor Street, Tufnell Park, north London) they decide to overcome the stated snag - the place is offered only to a professional couple - by posing as such, and they successfully take possession, renting the flat from daunting landlady Marsha Klein. She is a scary woman, possessing a penetrating stare and a huge capacity for cigarettes and alcohol.
Simon and Co. also celebrated a highly successful film last year entitled 'Shaun of The Dead'. Its basically a take on Dawn of the Dead but cleverly done in the comic style. It tells the story of a 30 something Electrical Shop Sales Manager, who doesnt realise the entire country is turning into zombies. Dubbed a "zom-rom-com" (zombie romantic comedy) he fights a battle along his girlfriend, mum and mates to not get bitten and turn into a zombie!
